Tarraco Viva – Munera Gladiatora
One of the biggest draw and highlight of the Tarraco Viva Festival is the Gladiators Games held at the Anphiteatre in front of cheering crows.
The Munera Gladiatora is a realistic demonstration of the fighting techniques and equipment used by the various types of gladiators of the time and is riveting to watch. Interestingly these fights were always accurately balanced by by giving each opposing gladiator equal advantages and disadvantages so that the game was won purely by skills and not because of a more efficient weapon or armour.
Each fight is introduced by a detailed historical explanation and the event, set in the old Roman amphitheatre filled with spectator, lasts about one hour.
