Part of Tarraco Viva, the ten days festival exploring all things Roman in Tarragona, is SEQVERE ME! a realistic reconstruction of the world of prostitution among the walls of the old city.

La diada di San Jordi, day of Sant George, is one of the most loved yearly event in Tarragona where people, books and roses mix happily along the Rambla. Although not a public holiday, everyone seems to find time for a stroll and, before midday, the venue is packed with people.

The Procession of Santo Entierro, the main focus of Tarragona’s Easter calendar, got off to a wet start and even wetter finish. By the time the first religious float depicting the last supper reached the Cathedral, the umbrellas were already out in force.

The growing rumors is that Tarragona is fast becoming one heck of a place to see and to be seen and the Dixieland festival, which ends this evening, just adds to the aura.

On a seriously wet Sunday morning Els Tres Tombs, the traditional procession celebrating San Anthony, patron of all animals, took place along the Rambla, watched by an umbrella holding audience.

The burning of the King and Queen of the Carnival signals the ending of the celebrations in Tarragona in a dark and spectacular display of fire and deprecating speeches.

La Rua Artesania is one of the most spectacular events that take place in Tarragona during the Carnival. The parade runs through the main artery of Tarragona and thousands covered in glitter and feathers take part.

The Baixada del Pajaritu took off in its usual spirit of anarchy where anything goes as long as it can roll down a hill. Supported by a jazzy pop soundtrack churned out by two torero DJ’s , the multi made contraptions made it to the finishing line, some even in one piece.

In true Carnival spirit a confetti storm was unleashed by Tarragona’s very own Pipel Entertainment! You just had to surrender to the inevitable, confetti in your hair, nose, mouth, shoes, home, shower, sleep, dreams…everywhere.
