This is the time of the year when Human Castles become a ubiquitous sight in some of the main squares in Catalonia. Here, last night, we had the Colla Xiquets de Tarragona doing the last and most important rehearsal before the beginning of the celebration of Sant Magi next week.
Despite their casual wear, the oldest group of Castellers in Tarragona managed a fantastic performance as one human castle rose after the next, illuminated by the lights of the street and with the great facade of the Cathedral in the background.
However this was just a prelude; the next big date in the world of Tarragona’s Human Towers is on the Diada de Sant Magí (the Day of Sant Magí) on the 19th of August in Plaça de les Cols (in front of the Cathedral) at 12:00 am when the four groups of Human Towers, the Xiquets de Tarragona, the Jove Xiquets, the Xiquets del Serrallo and the Castellers de Sant Pere i Sant Pau will build, castles, towers and pillars in turn.[widgetkit id=6181]
