The mini gastronomic tapas hopping glut feast that is Tarragona’s dtapes is back, running three weeks, from the 25th of April until the 16th of May. Forty different restaurants and bars are taking part and there is even and Apple / Android app to show you the way along the dTapes route.
As per usual the dtapes trail leads to the three distinctive areas of this city: the Serrallo (fish market and fishermen quarter), the Centre (largely located around the Food Market area) and the Part Alta (the Gothic quarter). You start off buy getting your mandatory dtapes passport (called the Tapodrom) which cost €1.50 , and is available at every establishment taking part (watch out for the dtapes banner displayed outside).
Each Tapas cost €2.50 and includes a wine or beer to match (bottle of water for teetotaler) and can be sampled each day of the event from 12:00 to 14:00hrs and again later on, from 19:00 to 23:00 hrs.
If you manage to munch your way through all the 40 Tapas on offer (remember to get your Tapodrom passport stamped as proof) you’ll become a Tapejador d’or and get a certificate and and bottle of fine local vintage Cava to celebrate your achievement!
There is a crunched up dtapes survival guide which Tarragona Blog jotted down last year to serve as a future reference for dtapes novices.
