In true local tradition the Homes dels Nassos, the ‘Man of Noses’, a mythological Catalan character, makes his appearance at 12 o’clock on the last day of the year ready to take the old year away.
According to some, the Homes dels Nassos symbolizes the spirit of vegetation and legend has it that he lives inside a large and unusual looking tree appearing only at the very last day of the year, dressed in a garish attire, ready to start the journey from Aquitaine to Catalonia.
Other stories tell of the Homes dels Nassos having one nose for each day of the year but on the last day he has only just one left and leaves Tarragona by carriage at the sound of bells.
Goodbye 2012 and wishing you all a happy 2013!
